A lot of people have asked me how I set up my own business, especially as I started out making everything at home. It’s difficult to know where to begin especially if your budget is limited, so this will be the first in a series of blog posts about how to start (and grow) your own food company!
To start us off I’m going to share a step-by-step blueprint of how I launched LoveRaw for less than £600 and no, that's not a typo!
When dealing with small budgets, you need to be extremely smart about how you operate. You need to save on everything. We're talking beg, borrow and blag as much as you can! When I started with LoveRaw we were still feeling the effects of the recession, which made things even more tricky. However in the long run I’m actually grateful for the timing because it forced me to think outside the box.
Back in 2013 I was based in Spain. I'd taken a step back from working a soulless desk job in finance and was mourning the death of my father. Both these life experiences made me review what was important to me and how I had to move forward with my life. I made a conscious transition towards healthy eating and decided a career change was on the cards. This led to a product idea that I felt I needed to share!
Unfortunately, at the time I was lacking the following:
