Meet the team: The Ladies Of LoveRaw

Meet the team: The Ladies Of LoveRaw®

This International Women's Day, we're going big! For those of you who don't know, we were founded by a woman. Yes, that's right, we have a certified girl boss amongst us.

Now we may only have a little team at our HQ but it sure is small and mighty. They say there's strength in numbers and our team certainly lives up to that message. At our base, we house a team of not one, not two, but nine women. Out of a company of 12, we'd say that's pretty good going.

What Is Love Raw Doing For International Women's Day?

A little earlier today, we launched our International Women's Day campaign. To celebrate the ladies in our lives, we wanted to give something back and donate 10% of our sales to a female focussed charity. We decided to partner with Women's Aid who have been working tirelessly over the pandemic to help support survivors of domestic abuse. If you haven't already checked out our blog post on what we're doing to help Women's Aid and more about their cause you can do so here.

Will We Ever Have Gender Equality?

So whilst we're selling chocolate and donating money to a good cause, this got us thinking. There's a total of nine women in our office versus four men.

We know that we have a long way to go until we have full blown gender equality. We're talking having more women in leadership roles, closing the pay gap, you know the drill. However, it's thought society still has 100 years to go to achieve equality.

According to data obtained from global consultancy firm McKinsey and Company, since 2015,  progress toward gender equality has been marginal, and now COVID-19 has hit women harder than ever.

So this got us thinking. As a company we want to empower our women. By proving them with equal opportunities and a safe space. Not only that, but for the future women of Love Raw, we want to provide women access to employment just as much as their male counterparts, regardless of their gender.

Meet The Love Raw Ladies

So without further adieu, we think it's time you met our ladies. Due to Coronavirus, we've managed to get a few of our team of fab women together (at a safe distance) to ask them all about being a woman. As this years International Women's Day theme is Choose To Challenge, instead of raising our hands to show our support and solidarity we'll be raising our favourite butter cups. Even better still, there's two butter cups in one pack, so they're the ideal treat for sharing with your favourite female, so who will you be sharing your buttercups with?

What does being a woman mean to you?

This is something I have never really thought about to be honest.  Life isn't easy but it is worth it. Most importantly though don't forget to ask for help, we are not on our own and there is always a women ready to help to make sure every other women can succeed.

Who is an inspirational woman to you and why do they inspire you?

There are lots of  women in my life who have inspired me. These women have taught me to be strong and to never give up. So just keep going, work hard, be nice and don't forget to laugh.

What's the best thing about working at Love Raw?
Well obviously the free chocolate. Seriously though, it is being surrounded with people who not only push themselves, but in doing so positively inspire everyone around them to achieve their potential and supersede it .

What does an average day look like for you?
There is no average day for me. Being in Operations means you are spinning several plates all at once ; with my day sometimes changing from minute to minute depending on the needs of the business. I wouldn't want it any other way though !

What does being a woman mean to you?

Being part of a strong female support system that encourages me to be the best I can be.

Who is an inspirational woman to you and why do they inspire you?

As cliche as it sounds my mum is one of the biggest inspirations. She is always so positive and patient no matter what life throws at her.

What's the best thing about working at Love Raw?
It’s only my second week but the best thing so far about working at Love Raw is the people, everyone is so friendly and helpful and the free chocolate is a bonus!

What does an average day look like for you?
An average day  for me now I’m not working from home or on furlough, is to get up at 6.30, whip up a nice breakfast and travel to the office to see what awaits. Once I’m home, I take my dog Pickles for a walk then settle down to watch something on Netflix. Schitt’s Creek is an absolute must watch.

What does being a woman mean to you?
Being a woman to me is about the relationships I have in my life with other females. From my mum and sister being amazing role models I desire to be, to my female friends showing me individual strength, drive, being amazing mums, wives, career driven women and generally just bossing life. Every woman that is in my life makes me so proud to be one, and makes me want to be the best version I can be of myself.

What's the best thing about working at Love Raw?

The unlimited chocolate, Obvs! (JOKE). The people. Everyday there are conversations within the office that inspire and motivate me both professionally & personally. Working with like minded people that all share the same drive is amazing, and when working for a company you have a genuine passion for it really is like the cheesy saying of ‘ find a job you love and you will never work a day in your life again’ - & I now feel this.

What does an average day look like for you?
I cannot even tell you an average day. No two days are the same but I wouldn't have it any other way. The only consistent things in my day are the 11am & 3pm buttercups!

'Who is an inspirational woman to you and why do they inspire you?'

My sister Natalie. She is driven, motivated, the most hardworking woman I know and all alongside an amazing sister, friend, & dog mum! - She inspires me everyday and is my absolute rock!

What does being a woman mean to you?

To just be me. Be a regular human being that shows compassion and kindness regardless of who you are or where you’re from. It’s as simple as that.

Who is an inspirational woman to you and why do they inspire you?

My mum of course! She may be stubborn but she works her absolute arse off.No task is too big and she always puts others before herself. By working hard, never giving up, making room for a little cry every now and not taking s*ht from anyone.

What's the best thing about working at Love Raw?

It’s only my second week but I’m already off to a flying start. The team has been so welcoming and friendly. Good vibes all round!

What does an average day look like for you?

Now I’m not on furlough I have some much needed structure in my life. Now I’m in the office, I’ll be working with all things content. Whether that's keeping up to date on the latest Tik Tok trends to whipping up a super tasty bake to share on Instagram. It's all engines go!

What does being a woman mean to you?

Being a woman means being strong. Being a woman means being powerful (even if we don't all fully realise that yet). To me it is a big part of my identity and I enjoy being a woman!

Who is an inspirational woman to you and why do they inspire you?
My mum is the most inspirational woman I can think of. She's a very determined person who always finds a way to make things happen and really doesn't take no for an answer. She always told me I could be anything I wanted to be and has shown me that isn't limited to one thing for the rest of your life.

Professionally speaking I am inspired by a few female entrepreneurs in the digital space but I am also really inspired by Rihanna, who has become an uber-businesswoman and focused on using her platform and voice for positive change across a number of industries. She works hard and lets her success speak for itself and her music is pretty fire too.

What is the best thing about working at LoveRaw?

We're a fun group of people from a variety of backgrounds and have all had really different life experiences, so it's fun working alongside the team! The best part is working for a brand trying to make a positive impact and break down some of the stereotypes surrounding veganism and what it is to be a vegan while making great chocolate inclusive to everyone.

What does an average day look like for you?

I honestly don't have the same day twice! But it mainly involves working across all the different marketing channels to make sure we're pushing the correct message to our audience and customers, as well as planning for some exciting new products dropping soon!!

What does being a woman mean to you?

Being a woman is all about being strong and confident. These are the key characteristics that keep me going day to day. I know that with hard work and determination I can achieve anything if I set my mind to it.

What's the best thing about working at Love Raw?

Passion, everyone shares the same passion of really believing in our products and share the same vision of where we are going. It keeps me motivated every day and to have seen it come so far, makes me really be proud to be part of the team.

What does an average day look like for you?

On an average day, it's always busy. But most of my day I get to speak to you, our lovely customers and listen to your feedback. Being so hands on and direct with our customer base is what makes me tick. Without these open and honest conversations we wouldn't be where we are now. When we all listen to one another, life becomes just that little bit easier.

Who is an inspirational woman to you and why do they inspire you?
There have been lots of women who have inspired me in my life, it really would be unfair to single out just one. All of these women have become role models. I've learnt so much from so many people and picked up a few tips and tricks along the way. They have all inspired me to always be the best version of myself.
